Special trucks

"Special trucks" covers rigid trucks fitted with a purpose-built body: loader crane, tanker, concrete mixer, flatbed. The chassis is that of a standard truck, often a 10- or 12-wheeler. It is the body fitted that defines the use, the price and the resale value.

These machines are chosen by the job, not by the brand

A concrete mixer is sized by volume per trip and by the distance between the site and the batching plant: beyond a certain travel time, the concrete can no longer be used, and it is this constraint that sets the drum size, not the budget.

A loader crane is chosen by the load to lift and above all by the reach needed: an arm that lifts ten tonnes close in lifts only a fraction of that at full reach. It is the load-reach combination you need to give, not just the tonnage.

A tanker is chosen by the product carried, which dictates its inner lining, its compartments and its safety equipment. A water tanker and a fuel tanker are not interchangeable.
